We are seeking talented candidates who wish to apply for a funded full-time scholarship to pursue a PhD.

You should ideally have a background in nutrition and an interest in fertility and women’s health. Your research will be part of research to be undertaken by the NHMRC Centre for Research Excellence in Health in Preconception and Pregnancy (CRE HIPP) and you will work closely with several of the CRE research teams and partner organisations.

Supervisors Associate Professor Lisa Moran and Dr Siew Lim have a keen interest in optimising healthy lifestyle in women across key life stages including preconception, pregnancy and postpartum. They also have expertise in working with women with infertility to optimise lifestyle and fertility and reproductive outcomes. This project will involve assessment of the role of healthy lifestyle in fertility and how to improve lifestyle to optimise fertility.

The PhD candidate can undertake a range of research projects including:

  • systematic reviews
  • epidemiological research assessing the relationship between lifestyle and infertility
  • qualitative interviews with couples with infertility, and health professionals working with couples to assess barriers and enablers to uptake of healthy lifestyle
  • pilot interventions to optimise lifestyle and fertility.

Within this research program, there is ample opportunity for the candidate to conduct independent research under the supervision of an expert research team.

Australian citizens and permanent residents will be exempt from additional Monash University fees.

Students with an Honours or Masters degree with H1 equivalent (including Nutrition and Dietetics graduates) are encouraged to apply. Funding will be available for competitive and eligible applicants. Successful applicants will be eligible to apply for additional scholarships and local top-up scholarship funds and preparation of applications will be supported.
